On the 18th of December 2024, the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology had the honor of hosting Dr. Ajit Kumar Shasany, an esteemed alumnus of Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat, and the Director of the prestigious National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow. The event took place in the Seminar Hall of the DBT-NECAB (New Building) at 4:00 PM.

The Director of DBT-NECAB, Prof Bidyut Kumar Sarmah initiated the program with his welcome address followed by a felicitation. Dr. Shasany delivered an insightful and engaging lecture on the topic, “Internal Immunity in Plants for Sustainable Climate Transition.” His presentation delved into the mechanisms of plant immunity and their critical role in fostering sustainability amidst the challenges posed by climate change.

The talk was well-attended by faculty members, students, and research scholars who showed great enthusiasm for the topic. Dr. Shasany shared his vast expertise and highlighted innovative research and practical approaches to enhance plant resilience, which resonated deeply with the audience.

Following the lecture, an interactive session was held, where attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas with Dr. Shasany. The discussion further enriched the understanding of the topic and inspired many to explore new dimensions in plant science research.
