The Independence Day of 2024 was marked with grandeur and patriotic fervor at the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) - North East Centre for Agricultural Biotechnology (NECAB), Assam Agricultural University (AAU). The day commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony led by the esteemed Director, Prof. Bidyut Kr. Sarmah.

Flag Hoisting Ceremony

The celebrations began promptly at 7:15 AM in the morning. Prof. Bidyut Kr. Sarmah, the Director of DBT-NECAB, presided over the flag hoisting ceremony with grace and solemnity. Under the clear skies of Assam, Prof. Sarmah unfurled the tricolor, symbolizing the nation's enduring spirit of independence and unity.

The event was attended by the faculty, staff, and students of DBT-NECAB, all of whom participated in the singing of the National Anthem with great pride. Prof. Sarmah's address highlighted the significance of Independence Day and encouraged everyone to continue contributing towards national progress through their respective roles.

Central Meeting at the Vice Chancellor's Office

Following the flag hoisting, a central meeting was convened at the Vice Chancellor’s office at AAU. This meeting served as an additional platform to honor individual achievements within the AAU community.

Award Presentation

During this meeting, Mr. Dwipen Sarmah, an esteemed accountant at DBT-NECAB, was recognized for his outstanding service. Mr. Sarmah was awarded for his dedicated and extended service of over 9 years at the center. His commitment and diligence in managing the financial operations of the center were commended as pivotal to the smooth functioning of DBT-NECAB.

The Vice Chancellor, along with other dignitaries, lauded Mr. Sarmah's contributions and expressed their gratitude for his unwavering dedication. The award presentation was a highlight of the meeting, underscoring the value of long-term commitment and exceptional service within the academic and research community.
