AAU and AMITY University Explore Collaborative Ventures in Biotechnology and Food Sciences

New Delhi, 18th July 2024 - In a significant step towards fostering academic and research excellence, Dr. Bidyut Chandan Deka, Vice Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat, and Dr. Bidyut Kumar Sarmah, Director of the DBT-North East Centre for Agricultural Biotechnology, visited AMITY University in New Delhi. This visit, made upon the invitation of AMITY University’s Vice Chancellor, aimed to discuss potential collaboration avenues between the two esteemed institutions.

The visit highlighted several promising areas for collaboration:
• Joint Research Initiatives: Both universities plan to leverage extramural grants to pursue joint research projects, enhancing the scope and impact of their research outputs.
• Joint PhD Programme: A collaborative PhD programme with joint guideship is on the cards, fostering deeper academic ties and providing students with diverse perspectives.
• Joint Degree Programmes: Focused on Biotechnology, Food Science Technology, Food Nutrition, and Dietetics, these programmes will offer students a comprehensive education, drawing on the strengths of both universities.
• Faculty Exchange: This initiative will enable faculty members to share knowledge, teaching methodologies, and research insights, enriching the academic environment.
• Student Exchange and Internships: Both universities are committed to providing students with broader learning experiences and practical exposure through exchange programmes and internships.

The discussions saw participation from several distinguished dignitaries from AMITY University, including:
