The Director General of ICAR, Visited the DBT-NECAB, AAU, Jorhat

Today, Dr. Himanshu Pathak, the Secretary to the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Director-General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), made a significant visit to the DBT-North East Centre for Agricultural Biotechnology and the Dept of Agricultural Biotechnology as a part of his visit to Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. Dr. Pathak interacted with the faculty members, research scholars, staff and the students, fostering insightful discussions on agricultural research and education while meticulously inspecting laboratory facilities. Additionally, he visited the Phytotron Facility of the DBT-NECAB, acknowledging its vital role in conducting high end research like genome editing, speed breeding etc.. This visit underscored the importance of knowledge exchange and advanced research infrastructure in addressing agricultural challenges, with a commitment to advancing agricultural research and innovation. Dr. Pathak during his visit offered words of appreciation for the department and the center, expressing satisfaction with the facilities and the overall ambiance. He was accompanied by the honourable Vice Chancellor of AAU, Dr Bidyut Chandan Deka. The Head of the Dept and the Director DBT NECAB, Dr Bidyut Kumar Sarmah expressed his gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Honourable DG and the Vice Chancellor for visiting the Centre and the Department.
